|Gregg Allman & Friends is a band that has gone through many lineup changes over the years, but the key ingredients of diversity, dynamics and soulful performances have always remained intact. Mark joined GA&F in December 1995 as slide & lead guitarist. Though there have been many guitarists associated with GA&F from 1995 to 2004, Mark is the only guitarist who performed on every show during that time period, even a 3½ week 24 show tour of Japan in 1998 as the only guitarist. In March of 2007, after a three year hiatus, Mark was asked back to once again take over the guitar spotlight with GA&F.
With Gregg, Mark has toured extensively throughout the U.S., Canada and Japan sharing the bill with such opening acts as the Spinners, Wilson Pickett, Jimmie Vaughn, David Crosby, Bad Co., REO Speedwagon, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Ted Nugent, Joan Jett, B.T.O, Derek Trucks, Edwin McCain, Molly Hatchet, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Kansas, Neville Bros., Steel Pulse, Jeffrey Gaines and Cyndi Lauper. While a GA&F show focuses on Gregg's solo material, there are always some surprises added on any given night. The "Friends" provide intense and dynamic arrangements of both old and new songs that ultimately allow Gregg the freedom to do what he does better than anyone: sing the blues!
To date, Mark appears on two of Gregg's releases. In the summer of 1997, Mark was in the studio recording guitar tracks with producer Tom Dowd for Gregg's "Searching For Simplicity" CD (released in Nov. '97 for Sony/550 Music). Mark plays all the guitars on the songs "Starting Over" & "Memphis in the Meantime" and appears on the live version of the song "These Days" on Gregg's "No Stranger To The Dark - The Best of Gregg Allman" cd (released in 2002 on Sony Records).
